The Escape from The Hallway of Mirrors

There I stood all agog

Lust, Sex, Rage, Sophistication

Murder, Hate, Death, Complexity

Aint it all the cards that decked the rise

Hallway of Mirrors

There's no escape

It will feed you, eat you

Hollow and Dry

Clutch your pattern chants

Your hallelujah incense

Your glory to god silver bullets

Vampires suck on rabid emotion

Feed us, treat us, tease us

They croon

They cry

More pleasure, more plenty

More want, more destitution

We need the suffering to feel

We need the fat rotund luxury of indulgence

To breed.

Before you know it

The mirror’d demons mocked

We’ll suck you dry

And trade your empty soulless shell

For younger models

Of muscled brilliance

Virile emptiness

Designed to please the eye

Barren sexiness

To populate the empty streets

Some where off to the side of this horror story I hear guerilla drum beats in the jungle.  Comforting.

Drive a stake thro my heart it mocked

Such intensity of pleasure when

Revenge breeds such sweet monsters

And nobody will understand this it boasted

And you will continue to do as you must

Rape and pillage and steal and murder one another it giggled

In the name of god, luxury, wealth, power, race, creed, poverty, sin, virtue

It shrieked with laughter

I grew tired of the eternal chorus line and flipped the Zippo and lit the crush of dry souls…the fire…it raged for centuries…
